Concert/Marching Band Class

Students enrolled in the concert/marching band class will develop skills by playing musical styles of marching band, concert band, and pep band ensembles

Students that do not participate in performances will need to perform in alternate ways, such as sending in videos on Flipgrid or performing songs to Ms. Fonseca

Typically events outside of school:

  • 4th of July Parade in Rancho Cordova
  • Band Camp (mornings the week before school)
  • Fundraisers (some with performing, some with only volunteering)
  • Back to School night performance
  • Marching Band practices & competitions
  • Rally performances
  • Recruitment trips
  • Winter Concert (December)
  • Basketball games (December – March depending on how teams are doing)
  • Spring Concert (May or June)

Marching Band Competitions: Parades

Next school year, I would like to bring back marching band competitions! I would like to do parade competitions next school year, and we can bring back field show competitions in the future if enough students are interested

Students enrolled in the band class are not required to do marching band competitions, but a lot of the rehearsal in class will be focused on preparing for these competitions

Members of the marching band:

  • Drum major (student conductor)
  • Hornline (wind instruments such as flutes, trumpets, saxophones, etc)
  • Drumline (marching percussion such as snare drum, bass drum, etc)
  • Color Guard (our visual group that uses flags, rifles, sabres, and more!)

Orchestra Students

At the moment we do not have an orchestra program, but orchestra students with experience are welcome to join our concert band class!

We also have a Symphony Club for beginning to advanced orchestra students.

We hope to offer an orchestra class if enough students request the course in the future!
